Fund the Fix: so no one faces their final days without the support they need
End of life care in England is failing too many people. Almost one in three people die without the help they need.
When care isn’t available in the community, people reach crisis point. Families are left without support, pain goes unmanaged, and too many people end up in A&E or admitted to hospital simply because there’s nowhere else to turn.
Most people want to be cared for at home, or close to home, at the end of life. The government’s Neighbourhood Health Framework aims to reduce non-elective admissions and bed days of one day or over for people at the end of life by 10% by 2029 - which could save the NHS up to £790 million per year.
But without some upfront investment to make the shift, its not realistic to expect that this urgently needed change will happen.
That’s why we’re calling on you to Fund the Fix: a dedicated, time‑limited transformation fund of at least £200 million a year for three years, to move end of life care out of crisis and into the community.
No one should face their final days without the care they need. Please act now.
