Put end of life care on the new Mayor's agenda

Around 8,500 people in Greater Manchester miss out on vital palliative and end of life care each year.

No one should face the end of life without the care and support they need.

That's why this Mayroral election matters.

A new Mayor can bring together the NHS, councils and local services to make sure everyone gets the care, dignity and support they need at the end of life.

✍️ If you live in Greater Manchester, will you sign our petition calling on mayoral candidates to make end of life care a priority from day one?

To the newly elected Mayor of Greater Manchester:

As Mayor, you have an important role in improving health and reducing inequalities across Greater Manchester.

We ask you to work with Marie Curie, local hospices, people with lived experience, and partners across health, social care and local government to develop a Greater Manchester action plan to tackle inequalities in palliative and end of life care.

This plan should set out how Greater Manchester will identify, understand and address inequalities in access to, and experiences of, palliative and end of life care. It should be shaped by people with direct experience, grounded in local evidence, and focused on practical steps to ensure that everyone can get the care and support they need at the end of life.

People at the end of life, and those who care for them, cannot afford to wait. We urge you to stand with them and commit to making better end of life care a priority for Greater Manchester.
